Translating the Hebrew Bible is challenging because ancient Hebrew and modern languages work very differently. Hebrew is built on roots that carry clusters of related meanings, so a single word can suggest multiple ideas at once. Many Hebrew words span broad semantic ranges with no exact counterpart in other languages, and much of the Bible’s poetry relies on rhythm, sound, and wordplay that cannot be reproduced. Every translation therefore involves interpretation, and no translation can fully capture the Hebrew’s richness, ambiguity, and cultural depth.
We carefully select “middle-ground” translations that balance fidelity to the original Hebrew with readability. These avoid being too literal, which can be confusing, or too interpretive, which can introduce bias. Our goal is to provide translations that are both accurate and easy to read for modern readers. Remember: translations are tools to help you understand the text—they are ultimately interpretations of the original text.
